Catching the garter belt…what does it really mean?
My boyfriend has caught the garter belt at the last two wedding we have attended which have been within the last three weeks. The first time he caught it I was like “Cool. Go Baby!” The second time “Oh, that’s funny you caught it again…but wait, why do you keep catching this thing?”
Traditionally, when a man catches the garter belt, it means he is the next one to get married. The same for when a woman catches the bouquet. Usually, men don’t want to catch the garter belt while women are very eager and fight to catch the bouquet while Beyonce “Single Ladies” is blasting in the background.
So, why does Devin keep catching the bouquet? One…nobody else wants to catch it! Second…it has been thrown at him both times. I guess the Groom’s think he should be next.
GIVE IT ABOUT TWO YEARS.
We definitely want to get married to each other, but we have other goals we want to focus on…even though this garter belt catching has broken the BF’s focus, since he is looking into getting a custom made tux for our non-existent wedding. What about looking for my ring? but I digress.
For now, we will just attend and enjoy other people’s wedding for a couple more years. Catch some more garter belts and maybe I’ll fight over a bouquet or two. Is their a Guinness record for catching garter belts? haha.
